Exhibiting abroad using a UK contractor is not always cost effective. So at The Design Shop we take a different approach. We believe it is easier for the client to get the stand designed here but for the stand itself to be built using local labour. This prevents having to spend thousands on shipping costs, provided it is handled correctly.

The Design Shop have built up and worked with many overseas contractors, which has grown into a two way relationship (they do work for us and we do work for their clients). We are aware of how technically capable they are and how long things will take.

A Show Down Under

Here's an example. Our client wanted to attend a show in Australia but was unsure how to go about it. The solution we came up with was to design a stand using our hire equipment, which we pre- built. We then sent a digital photograph of the finished stand together with working drawings to our contractor in Sydney. Because the client was flying their own equipment over anyway the stand components went along with it. The stand arrived in Sydney a week before the client and was picked up and built by our contractor without a hitch. Our contractor then even picked the client up from the airport and gave then a guided tour of the city before taking him to the exhibition.
